Hitchin is a charming medieval market town with incredible range of shops, restaurants, cafes pub and theatres.

The town has retained its market town feel and has many fine Tudor and Georgian building, particularly around the market square.

In the centre of the market square is a clock made by Gatwards, the jewellers, who have had a shop in Hitchin since 1760. Near to the market square stand the large medieval parish church of St Mary and the 1863 Corn Exchange as well as the late 14th century Adam designed Priory.

Hitchin has an open market on Tuesdays and Saturdays and an Antique Flea Market on Fridays. In addition the town has many Antique and book shops to browse around.
